As I sought the Lord for today’s service and the three churches gathering together to celebrate, worship and honor Him, He reminded me of three particular scriptures.
First, from Isaiah 43:18 which instructs us, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.” So often we are hindered by our past experiences and prevented from embracing the next thing God has for us. The verse continues with a promise. “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?” Now! Not some day. Watch as it unfolds, recognize and receive it.
Next, Psalm 133 declares, “Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Not only pleasant for us but for our Father also, and concludes in verse 3, “For there the Lord commanded the blessing – life forevermore.”
Just as the descendants of Abraham were blessed, we have the blessing of Unity as did the early church in the book of Acts!
Third and most important is the request Jesus Himself asked of His Father in John 17:11. When He prayed that we would be ONE even as they are ONE.
